Bladder and bowel

For people who leak urine, feel urgency or have trouble going to the bathroom.

It is more common than people say, and you do not have to put up with it in silence. We ask about your habits, look at how your pelvic floor works and show you what to do, with your clothes on and at your pace.

  • 04

A home plan, step by step

Good to know

  • How many visits

It depends on what we find in the exam, on your goals and on how much you practice at home. We review it together at every visit.

  • We bill your plan, or give you a written estimate if you pay yourself. We check your benefits before the first visit.

  • When to see your doctor first

See your doctor first if you see blood in your urine or stool, if you have a fever with pain when you urinate, or if you suddenly lose control of your bladder or bowel.

  • Chest pain, trouble breathing, a sudden severe headache or pain, new weakness or numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or a fall with a head injury needs emergency care now. Call 911.

Questions about this care

Is it normal to leak urine?

It is common, especially after pregnancy and birth. Common does not mean you have to put up with it: we can look at what is behind it and what you can do.

Is there an internal exam?

Only if you agree and it helps your plan of care. We explain what it is and what it is for first, and you decide. You can say no or ask us to stop at any moment. Much of the work is with clothes on, with breathing and with movement.
